Xiaomi MI 8 impressions and thoughts.
My personal impressions at first are how much it looks like an iPhone X(10).
The slim bezels, notch, and camera location but then I realize its in-depth with most Android flagships in 2018.
For me personally, the notch is fine on the iPhone X(10) but I don’t think all these other manufacturers should use the notch as well.
That’s just me. What do you think about the notch hype?
Also, another thing I really like about Xiaomi is that they always keep the price low.
Even though there’s no Samsung AMOLED display and all the high-end components the price is still low.
Xiaomi skipped MI 7 because this year is its 8th-year anniversary.
The box you get the device in is more premium and better organized.
- clear rubber case
- sim card removal tool
- a cable for your 3.5mm headphones because there’s no headphone jack
- USB c cable
- 18wat charger
If you want fast charging for this phone you’ll have to buy another charger because it does not come with the phone.
- Snapdragon 845 Processor
- Adreno 630 GPU
- 6GB RAM
- 64/128/256 GB Storage
With its massive RAM, the device does very good at games and saving background tasks so you can continue from where you left off.
- 6.2″ AMOLED 97.1 cm2 (~83.8% screen-to-body ratio)
- 1080 x 2248 pixels (~402 ppi density)
The battery is big at 3400mAh.
Camera wise we have:
- Dual Camera 12MP f 1.8, 1/2.55″, 2x optical zoom, dual pixel phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash
- Front Camera – 20 MP (f/2.0, 1.8µm), 1080p
- Video – 2160p@60fps, 1080p@30/240fps
It is currently the cheapest smartphone that has the Snapdragon 845.
Starting at $420 for the basic model $515 for the 256GB model.
The face recognition is improved and they dedicated an infrared camera for the face unlock and dedicated flashlight.
The Dual GPS navigation system and the camera seem to have some high scores in the DxO Mark as the Samsung Glaxay S9 Plus.
Overall for the price, a very good phone and the camera is great for the price you pay and it’s a good bargain.
